Empowering Minds: How Bateman's Foundry Ambassadors Are Shaping Resilient Futures
Robert Bateman Secondary is a collaborative community where students and families can learn, grow, and thrive together. Our work with partners like Foundry Abbotsford makes our community stronger and ready to meet life's challenges.
Foundry Abbotsford is a place where any youth or parent in our community can find easy, local access to the help they need when they need it. Be it physical or mental health, Foundry is there with activities, groups, and counselling.
This year, Foundry Student Ambassadors at Bateman have played a pivotal role in teaching staff and students about managing stress and anxiety. These senior students are passionate about mental wellness and supporting others.
In a presentation to staff and in four assemblies this semester, these ambassadors have taught our community about learning how to manage in a busy, often unpredictable world. Lessons have included breaking tasks into smaller steps and tackling one thing at a time, setting healthy boundaries, maintaining good sleep and exercise habits, and mindfulness techniques that can make a difference when life seems overwhelming. Student Ambassadors are available anytime to students, either as individuals or small groups; these students are making a positive impact on our school and the community.
Our community includes students who are not yet in high school; students in Grade 8 at Clayburn Middle School also benefit from the Bateman Ambassador's mentorship. For example, our Foundry Ambassadors are currently working with Fraser Health to provide education to Grade 8s about vaping in hopes of engaging in preventative discussions.
Foundry Ambassadors are in schools all over Abbotsford. They are integral to co-creating a thriving school community and, at Bateman, make us stronger and more ready to meet today’s challenges.
