5th Annual Bateman Open Sets New Participation Record

The fifth annual Robert Bateman Open golf tournament brought together alumni, community members, local businesses, and Abbotsford School District staff at Ledgeview Golf Course in support of the Robert Bateman Golf Academy.

Now in its fifth year, the tournament continues to grow in both participation and impact. This year's event welcomed a record 22 teams, making it the largest Bateman Open in tournament history. The event raised approximately $7,000 to support student travel opportunities, equipment purchases, and program enhancements within the Golf Academy.

Bateman Students Celebrate Community at Annual Summer Send Off

Students at Robert Bateman Secondary wrapped up the school year with the annual Summer Send Off, a student-led celebration focused on bringing the school community together before summer break.

Formerly known as the Bateman Bash, the event has been a Bateman tradition for nearly a decade. This year's Summer Send Off was designed with affordability and accessibility in mind, helping ensure all students could take part in the festivities.

The Abbotsford School District gathered to celebrate a remarkable group of retirees whose dedication, leadership, and care have helped shape our schools and community for years.

Hosted at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Centre, the annual Retirement Dinner honoured employees from across the district, including teachers, support staff, administrators, operations employees, and district leaders. Together, this year's retirees represent hundreds of years of service dedicated to supporting student success.

Grade 12 Students Take International French Certification Exam

Recently, more than 75 Grade 12 students from five secondary schools completed the internationally recognized Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) exam.

Offered at multiple levels, from foundational to advanced proficiency, the DELF is a lifetime certification recognized in over 170 countries. It assesses students’ abilities in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in French.

In 2023, 26 percent of youth in grades seven through 12 in British Columbia reported having vaped. The most common age that B.C. youth first tried vaping was 13.

Celebrating Student Success at Skills Canada BC Provincials

Abbotsford School District is once again celebrating strong results at the Skills Canada BC Provincial Competition, where students showcased their skills across trades and technology.

Kate Brown (ASIA Sumas) earned Gold in Architectural Drafting and will advance to the national competition. Hailey McIntosh (Robert Bateman Secondary) earned Bronze in Electrical Wiring, highlighting the depth of talent across the district.
