Abbotsford School District Introduces Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day
The Abbotsford School District is proud to announce the establishment of Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day, dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of Educational Assistants, Youth Care Workers, International Student Liaisons, and Indigenous Support Workers. Starting this June, with the inaugural celebration occurring today, this appreciation day will continue to be observed annually by the school district on the first Thursday of June.
“At the Abbotsford School District, we pride ourselves on the development of a progressive workforce, and Instructional support staff play a vital role in supporting students, educators, department teams and administrators in various capacities,” said Dr. Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools. “Their unwavering commitment is evident, and it is only fitting that we honour and express our gratitude for the assistance, guidance, and care they provide to so many.”
The inception of Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day stemmed from a collaborative effort between the Superintendent of Schools and Teamsters Union in an effort to publicly recognize and celebrate their efforts. Over 500 employees work throughout the Abbotsford School District in support of the vision of creating a world-class, innovative and individualized educational experience for every student.
Thank you to the Educational Assistants, Youth Care Workers, International Student Liaisons, and Indigenous Support Worker in #AbbySchools for their dedication and service.
