Family Newsletter February 28, 2025
February 28, 2025
Good morning, Bateman Families!
Living in a region near a major fault line means that earthquake preparedness is crucial for our safety and well-being. We understand that thinking about earthquakes can be unsettling, but being prepared can make a significant difference. Considering the lower mainland’s recent earthquake, here are some important steps from Mr. Cal:
- Stay Informed: Sign up for local emergency alerts and know the evacuation routes. Stay informed about the latest safety guidelines including taking cover.
- Practice Drills: Regularly practice earthquake drills at home. Familiarity with the procedures can help reduce panic and ensure everyone knows what to do.
- Secure Your Home: Ensure that heavy furniture and large appliances are anchored to walls. Keep breakable items on lower shelves and secure any items that could fall and cause injury.
Being prepared is a collective effort, and together we can create a safer environment for everyone. If you have any questions about the school’s preparedness plans, please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jennifer Koehler
Principal, Robert Bateman Secondary School
